Bloody Medea!!!

Comedian, actor, rebel. April Small clowns around with 5,000 years’ worth of the tragic feminine in this truly original tour-de-force of physical comedy.

Suitable for Age 12 +

The OG femme fatal, Euripides’s sorceress-seducer, Jason’s golden goose—Medea… now there’s a goddess who could have had it all. But, like clown and dancer April Small, things haven’t quite worked out in her favour. That’s the tragedy of aiming your arrow at a shot star.

With glitz, glamour, guts and gore, this outrageously funny one-woman musical play draws in a cast of tragic women (Medea, April, Vanessa Redgrave to name a few)  to bring out the melodramatic heart of the matter of female freedom and the power of love. This heartfelt and truly humane show will see you, and April (famously blood phobic), on the floor.

The show was created with clown-based theatre company Spymonkey, ‘the reigning monarchs of physical comedy’ (The Age Melbourne), between 2020 and 2022, and is directed by their co-artistic director Aitor Basauri.

REVIEWS

"I work with april. Fantastic."

Philippe Gaulier – Master Clown, Theatre artist, director, writer

"My experience of working with April was very rich. She is an incredibly rare talented artist, sensitively able to combine and embody the ridiculousness of being human in all its pain, joy and complexity."

Jamie Wood – Theatre maker, performer, clown.
