

The Seagull and The Cat
How Zorba the cat taught a little seagull to fly.

A seagull manages to escape from an oil slick, only to lay one last egg and with her dying breath ask Zorba, a harbour cat in Hamburg, to promise that he will hatch the egg and teach the chick to fly! How on earth will Zorba manage it? But nothing is impossible when you have good friends, wise enough help you discover your true self at just the right moment, and so… learn to fly.
Pericles Theatre Company’s own adaptation of ”Historia de una gaviota y del gato que le enseñó a volar” by Chilean-born writer Luis Sepúlveda who died in the first wave of the pandemic, and to whom this production is dedicated.
Directed by Vasile Nedelcu – with original music and songs by David Brett (a founder member of The Flying Pickets) – the award-winning Pericles Theatre Company bring this heartfelt story to life with their special mix of accessibility, diversity and rough theatre.
Winners of Camp Bestival Family Show Award at Brighton Fringe 2015 with their adaptation of Romanian folk tale The Tale of the Pig.
